Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has tallied five TDs this season

The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run from the Tom Brady period as they overcame division rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL

First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season

Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws

The triumph extends the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats

The visitors had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to finish the New York's initial series

But the New England answered in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7

"It was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."

Justin Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales converted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
